Rugby star Charlie Hodgson has a virus
Rugby player Charlie Hodgson has not flown over to England's World Cup training camp in Portugal because he is suffering from a virus infection.
Charlie Hodgson, 26, and who plays as fly-half, has the symptoms of a viral gastro-enteritis and has decided it would be wise to stay at home to recover.
Charlie Hodgson's decision is hoped to aid his speedy recovery and to reduce the risk of other rugby players catching the illness as they did on the recent South African tour.
Charlie Hodgson, has had other recent health problems because he ruptured his cruciate knee ligament in November, but with his current problem he is expected to get better over the weekend.
Charlie Hodgson is one of three players in the 47-man rugby squad who also did not travel to the Algarve.
Winger Jason Robinson had a knee operation after the tour of South Africa and Andrew Sheridan, like Charlie Hodgson, has had a knee ligament injury.
