Rugby player Lawrence Dallaglio banned by London Wasps
London Wasps have suspended Lawrence Dallaglio for a week, after the RFU's decided to cite him for allegedly punching Leicester player Julian White.
Lawrence Dallaglio is said to have hit the other player during the closing stages of London Wasps' defeat in the EDF Energy Cup semi-final.
Lawrence Dallaglio, 35, is going before an RFU disciplinary hearing on Tuesday and could face a ban of as much as eight weeks.
But in the meantime, London Wasps have already decided to punish him themselves.
London Wasps say the ban took effect two days ago, but they point out that they are satisfied there was no intention or malice on Lawrence Dallaglio's part in the incident.
Lawrence Dallaglio, who has never been in such trouble in a long career, said: "I accept the sanction of a week's suspension from playing for my club. I acknowledge that my actions infringed the rules, although I wish to stress that they were unintentional and without any malice."
