Rugby league legend Andrew Johns to play for New Zealand
Australian rugby league legend Andrew Johns will be playing for New Zealand on their centenary tour of the UK later this year.
Andrew Johns, 32, who was born in Cessnock, New South Wales, and is nicknamed "Joey" is widely regarded as one of the best rugby league players in the world and he has won the Golden Boot as the international game's outstanding player on two occasions.
New Zealand called upon Andrew Johns to play for them to pay tribute to the contribution of Dally Messenger, the Australian rugby player who was with New Zealand on their first British tour back in 1907.
"It's a great honour - there's no bigger name in rugby league history than Dally Messenger," said Andrew Johns proudly.
Andrew Johns will appear in a one-off match against a Great Britain XIII, which has been designed to bring back memories and to honour the 1907 game.
