Former England rugby star Steve Thompson makes his comeback
Former England rugby star Steve Thompson is making a comeback from retirement to play for French team Brive.
Steve Thompson, 29, who plays as a hooker and was a World Cup winner four years ago, had to give up playing for Northampton in January after 13 years due to a bulging disc problem in his neck.
However, doctors have given Steve Thompson the go ahead to play again and he hopes to be making his return to sport in December.
Steve Thompson explained: "My body feels brilliant now. This offer gives me the chance to return and grow with Brive."
His planned comeback has started speculation about him playing for England again but Steve Thompson says he is looking forward to playing for Brive and he told The Times newspaper: "I was 'rugbyed' out when the injury happened. But now I realise how much I've missed the game."
