England to host 2007 Churchill Cup
The 2007 Churchill Cup, the rugby tournament featuring the New Zealand Maori, USA, Canada and England, Scotland and Ireland's A teams is going to take place in England.
Normally the Churchill Cup is held in America or Canada but it is moving for a year to aid World Cup preparations.
"The Cup has become a fantastic tournament with the involvement of six attractive teams," said tournament director Terry Burwell and he added: "English fans are in for a treat with nine matches up and down the country."
The Churchill Cup will begin on 19 May, with the final on 3 June.
Venues for the event have not yet been announced, but Worcester, Leicester, Reading, Exeter and Richmond are all possible.
"With the exception of the Maori, the majority of the squads from five of the six participating teams are playing in the UK," Terry Burwell also said.
"It makes sense from a player welfare point of view for the tournament to be held in England for this one-off year," Terry Burwell added.
