England rugby coach Andy Robinson may retire
Andy Robinson is expected to retire as England rugby coach on Tuesday following a day of talks at the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
It is reported that RFU chief Francis Baron, elite director Rob Andrew and chairman Martyn Thomas have all asked Andy Robinson to resign although he is hoping to stay on, however the RFU are prepared to force him out if they have to.
It is likely that Andy Robinson will be offered the same compensation package whether he resigns or if he is made redundant.
Andy Robinson had been ready to participate in three days of World Cup meetings starting on Tuesday in Paris, but now he will not be going.
World Cup-winning captain Martin Johnson is understood to be first choice to replace Andy Johnson and if he is not available, then former Wasps and Ireland coach Warren Gatland or ex-South Africa coach Nick Mallett will be other likely choices.
