Bath and Wales rugby player Gareth Delve joins Gloucester
Bath and Wales rugby player Gareth Delve has joined Gloucester starting from next season on a three-year contract, although he is unlikely to play for his new team for some time due to a serious knee injury he sustained earlier this month.
Gareth Delve, 24, is starting his rehabilitation for a ruptured cruciate ligament, but his injury is serious enough to mean he will have to miss the World Cup.
However, Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan is delighted to welcome Gareth Delve to his team and said: "Gareth's a very significant addition," and he added:
"We have made no secret of our aim to compete at the top end of Europe, and world-class players such as Gareth will be key in making this happen.
"As soon as we learned of his availability we moved quickly to show him the Gloucester set-up. Gareth offers considerable physical presence and a dynamic carrying game, which will suit our style perfectly."
Gareth Delve is regarded as one of the brightest talents in rugby union, even though his career has had major setbacks due to injury.
