Australia have sent unfit rugby star Lote Tuqiri home
Australia have sent rugby player Lote Tuqiri and three other players from a World Cup training camp in Canberra home after they failed fitness tests.
Lote Tuqiri, Mark Gerrard, Morgan Turinui and Tatafu Polota-Nau have all returned to their Super 14 clubs to do more training.
Australia rugby union coach John Connolly said: "Players were told if they were unable to meet certain standards they'd be removed.
"The four players have been sent home for failing to meet those standards."
The intention of the three-day training camp in Canberra was to start Australia's preparations ahead of September's World Cup in France.
"We have very limited time available to us for physical preparation before the World Cup," said John Connolly, and he added: "This camp was to give us a platform from which to build on for the rest of the year."
