Yorkshire captain Darren Gough comments on England's problems
Captain of Yorkshire cricket team Darren Gough has been considering England's recent problems in one-day cricket and he has concluded that they can be blamed on their lack of domestic action in the 50-over game.
Darren Gough, speaking from personal experience, thinks that players need to get used to the white ball and he explained: "It's 13 years since my one-day England debut, and even now I have difficulty controlling the white ball."
Darren Gough went on to say: "So I don't know how we can expect young bowlers to cope in the pressure of the international arena."
Darren Gough suggested that the England and Wales Cricket Board should make England cricketers available for more county one-day games.
Darren Gough added: "Some of the guys we were asking to bring home a World Cup have hardly bowled any overs - Sajid Mahmood couldn't even get in Lancashire's one-day team until they were hit by injuries,
"I'm not saying Mahmood shouldn't be in the England side, because I think he has all the attributes, but we're asking him to learn his trade at the highest level and I'm not sure that's reasonable."
