West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuels found guilty
Cricketer Marlon Samuels, who is a batsman for the West Indies, has been found guilty of breaching regulations following an investigation into his links with a bookmaker.
Samuels, 27, could be banned from cricket for as much as two years if the International Cricket Council decides to impose a suspension as punishment.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) claimed that Marlon Samuels had "received money, benefit or other reward which could bring him or the game into disrepute", however, he denied passing on any information to a bookmaker during a one-day series in India in January of last year.
Samuels has been allowed to carry on playing in the World Cup while the probe got underway.
A further charge that Samuels had "directly or indirectly... engaged in conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game" was dropped.
The WICB said they would prefer for Marlon Samuels not to get banned, but would prefer a suspended sentence because of his good behaviour in the past.
