West Indies cricket captain Brian Lara looks to the future
West Indies cricket captain Brian Lara is looking forward to new younger cricketers making a success of his team in future after he is gone as he makes plans for his final World Cup.
The West Indies surprised everyone when they emerged from nowhere to successfully win the Champions Trophy in England in 2004, and they reached the final again in India late last year.
But the West Indies have not had much success in the World Cup in recent years, and in his four attempts to make up for this Brian Lara has got no further in making any progress and so looks to the younger players to carry the team forward.
Brian Lara, 38 in May, said: "Everyone must make a contribution and the young ones have to come forward."
Brian Lara is optimistic that the younger players will perform well this time and he said:
"It's always a tournament where a youngster comes up and shows what he's made of."
