Umpire Darrrell Hair sues ICC and PCB over racial discrimination
Controversial umpire Darrell Hair is going to sue the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over claims of racial discrimination.
Darrell Hair maintains that he was made a scapegoat when he was barred from officiating Test matches and he feels he is being victimised because he is white, whereas a black West Indian was let off.
Dominican Billy Doctrove, his fellow umpire in the game when Pakistan had been accused of ball-tampering, and for which Darrell Hair had got into trouble, is now working again in cricket.
Billy Doctrove was away from sport for several months after the incident, before making a comeback during Pakistan's recent Test series in South Africa.
Darrell Hair believes the PCB "unlawfully induced" the ICC to take part in discriminatory acts against him when it lobbied for his ban before a November meeting.
PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf said he was "simply outraged" when he saw Darrell Hair's written claims.
