Sri Lanka cricket coach Tom Moody is confident
Sri Lanka cricket coach Tom Moody is confident his side have the players who are able to win the Champions Trophy even though they will have to first qualify.
Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are to play each other with the top two teams going through.
When the decision was made for the top six teams to be automatically entered for the Champions Trophy, Sri Lanka were ranked in seventh place but Tom Moody said: "We are a good side now in all three departments of the game."
Sri Lanka defeated England 5-0 in the overseas one-day series this summer, and that was without the guidance of their captain Marvan Atapattu, who has now returned to the team after an operation on his back.
Tom Moody said: "Marvan is a quality player with a wealth of experience who will add value as a batsman."
