South African cricket team fly home from Sri Lanka after Colombo bombing
The South African cricket team are flying home from the triangular one-day series in Sri Lanka after a fatal bombing that took place in Colombo.
The decision was taken following an independent security review suggested the team's safety could not be guaranteed in the wake of Monday's blast and South Africa Cricket chief executive Gerald Majola said the risk to the team was at an "unacceptable level".
However, India, the third team in the series, have decided they will not cancel their tour because security has been increased.
A total of seven people were killed in Monday's bombing, which happened about a mile away from where the South Africa and India cricketers were staying.
Gerald Majola added: "The report says there is a real situational threat to the team.
"The Sri Lankan Government is unable to guarantee the physical security of the team given the current security situation in Colombo."
