Shoaib Akhtar gets banned by Pakistan Cricket Board
The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended cricketer Shoaib Akhtar for 13 games because he hit his fellow teammate Mohammad Asif with a cricket bat.
Shoaib Akhtar, 32, who plays as a seamer, was sent home from the World Twenty20 in South Africa and, following an investigation into the matter, has also been fined £28,000.
Disciplinary committee chairman Shafqat Naghmi explained that Shoaib Akhtar had been found guilty of five breaches of the code of conduct, and he pointed out that Shoaib Akhtar's behaviour would be being watched for the next two years.
Shoaib Akhtar was ordered to attend a hearing last week to give his version of the incident, which saw him hit Mohammad Asif with a bat. Shoaib Akhtar claimed the blow wasn't intended and that he had been angered by another player, Shahid Afridi.
Shoaib Akhtar was in trouble last month too when he escaped a fine of £2,500 after leaving a training camp in Karachi without telling the team management where he was going.
