Rahul Dravid not keen to open in Australia
India cricketer Rahul Dravid is not keen to open the batting against Australia, according to Sunil Gavaskar.
Rahul Dravid, 34, faced 66 balls but he only managed five runs as India battled on day two at the MCG.
Sunlil Gavaskar said: "I think it was something that he wouldn't have been too happy about. It's something he would have taken on reluctantly.
"Opening in India is one thing, opening in Australia against Brett Lee and Stuart Clark is a difficult thing."
Rahul Dravid will be playing his 116th Test and is opening for the ninth time, but ever since he gave up the captaincy in September, he no longer has had much say in his team's plans.
However, despite his reluctance to open in Australia, Sunlil Gavaskar said that Rahul Dravid was nevertheless still keen to help out his team if he is needed.
