Prince Charles invites India and Pakistan to play Friendship Cup
India and Pakistan cricket teams are invited to play a special one-day match called the Friendship Cup by the Prince of Wales, which will be played in Glasgow on 3 July and the organisers hope to raise more than £2.5m for various charities.
Prince Charles proposed the Friendship Cup match because it is the 60th anniversary of India and Pakistan's independence.
The Friendship Cup is being organised by the British Asian Trust and up to 5,000 tickets are going on sale via an online ballot.
Lalit Modi, vice-president of India's Board of Control explained: "This will be an amazing occasion as both our nations have not met outside the World Cup or the ICC Trophy in the United Kingdom.
"With such large Indian and Pakistani-origin populations it will be a fantastic opportunity to play such a match in aid of such a wonderful cause,"
"The game was His Royal Highness's idea and we are pleased that together with Cricket Scotland we have been able to put this into our tour of the United Kingdom."
The Pakistan Cricket Board also welcomed the plan to stage the Friendship Cup.
