Pakistan cricketer Umar Gul recovers
Pakistan cricketer Umar Gul has recovered from his ankle injury and been given the medical all clear.
24-year-old Umar Gul, who was born in Peshawar has played ten Test matches and 25 One-day internationals for Pakistan as a specialist fast bowler but he missed out on the tour of South Africa because it was thought he had broken his ankle, which would have kept him away from playing in the World Cup.
Umar Gul said: "I'm feeling great, I have been bowling at full speed for the last few days."
A deadline of 28 February has been set by Pakistan cricket for their World Cup team to pass fitness and doping tests and Umar Gul is now eligible to be included in the squad.
Injury had been a problem and had sidelined Umar Gul before when trouble with his back kept him away from cricket for the whole of 2005, however, he captured 18 wickets in four Tests last summer when he was playing in England.
Indicating his willingness to get back playing successful cricket for his team again, Umar Gul said: "I am ready to perform my duties and hopefully we will have a fit bowling attack which can help the team win."
