Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik to have shoulder operation
Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik is to have an operation on his shoulder next week in the hope of improving his bowling action.
All-rounder Shoaib Malik has been reported more than once to the International Cricket Council, most recently last November, and his problem is said to have been caused by two road accidents, which have affected the mobility of his right arm.
"The operation is being carried out so his arm extension improves," said the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan.
"Malik's problem is that due to those two accidents, his arm tendons have become loose, so when he bowled one gets the impression there is a problem with his action," Shaharyar Khan added.
The 24-year-old cricketer will have an operation in South Africa and it is hoped that he should be fit enough in time for the tour to England, which is beginning in June.
