Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer calls for ball-tampering law to be scrapped

bobwoolmer Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer has called for the scrapping of the ball-tampering law in the sport.

Pakistan's English tour is under threat following the team getting penalised during the fourth Test at The Oval. Bob Woolmer has accepted his players' promise that they did nothing wrong in the Test, which was awarded to England after a controversial forfeit.

Bob Woolmer was talking about law 42.3, which prohibits rubbing the ball on the ground or interfering with any of the seams or the surface of the ball.

"Law 42.3 is an ass, brought in because of ball-tampering with razor blades and bottle tops in the past," Bob Woolmer said.

"But that's been shoved out of the game now. I'd scrub out the law completely," Bob Woolmer added and in an interview with the Guardian newspaper, he explained that he held his view long before his bowlers were accused of breaking the law.
