Pakistan Cricket Board ban Shoaib Akhtar for 5 years
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have decided to ban Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar for five years from taking part in international and domestic matches.
Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had been accused of publicly criticising the Pakistan Cricket Board at a disciplinary hearing held in Rawalpindi.
Shoaib Akhtar, 32, said he was appealing against the ban and he complained: "I am deeply disappointed and hurt, I will go to court and fight against the ban."
However, Shoaib Akhtar, who had already been on a two-year probation for attacking teammate Mohammad Asif last year, is still able to take part in the Twenty20 Indian Premier League.
Shoaib Akhtar maintains that he had been made the scapegoat after Pakistan's Test and one-day series defeats at the end of last year when they were beaten by India, and he lashed out at the PCB when he was not given one of the 15 central contracts back in January.
