Pakistan's Inzamam-ul-Haq troubled by back injury
Pakistani cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq could miss out on the third and final Test against India due to an injury to his back.
35-year-old Inzamam, who comes from the Punjab, has been ruled out for
the rest of the second Test in Faisalabad with an inflamed disc.
Right-handed batsman Inzamam scored 119 in Pakistan's first innings total of 588, his 25th Test century in his 107th match.
Coach Bob Woolmer said, with regard to Inzamam: "There is still some
time left and we will see how he responds to treatment before deciding
whether he can play." The third and final Test takes place next Sunday
in the southern port of Karachi.
"I am in a lot of pain," said Inzamam. "It has troubled me for the last two years, I need to find a permanent solution."
The problem has caused difficulties for the cricketer before and on
Pakistan's tour of Australia in 2004/5, Inzamam had to miss two Tests
because of it.
And Shoaib Malik is also probably going to miss the rest of the second
Test after dashing home to be with his father who suffered a heart
attack followed by a coma.
