Michael Vaughan resigns as England one-day skipper
Michael Vaughan has announced his resignation as skipper of England's one-day side, but he says he still wants to be a member of the new team when it is announced.
The cricketer tipped as most likely to take over from Michael Vaughan is Paul Collingwood.
Michael Vaughan explained: "I will continue to play one-day cricket for Yorkshire and it is not my intention to retire from one-day international cricket as a player."
Michael Vaughan pointed out he had decided to do give up one-day captaincy a while ago and was now putting it into action.
Apparently, Michael Vaughan planned to resign after the end of the Riverside Test on Tuesday "to avoid it becoming a distraction to the team," but because of all the discussion about this in the press he decided to make the announcement earlier on.
Michael Vaughan has stated that he thinks it's best for the same cricketer to lead both the Test and one-day sides, but he said he wasn't likely to be available for the next World Cup in 2011.
