Legendary batsman Brian Lara comes out of retirement

brian Legendary batsman and former West Indies captain Brian Lara will be breaking his retirement to lead one of the cricket teams in an unofficial Indian Twenty20 league later this year.

Brian Lara, 38, had announced his retirement from sport after this year's World Cup, but now he has said: "It gives me great pleasure to join the Indian Cricket League."

Brian Lara added: "I look forward to playing with promising youngsters from India and elsewhere along with some illustrious international counterparts."

Brian Lara is one of cricket's all-time legends and he hit almost 12,000 Test runs in 131 Tests as well as more than 10,000 in 299 one-day internationals.

India's cricket board has turned down permission for the Indian Cricket League (ICL) and even cautioned its states and home players of potential action if they were involved in it.

The International Cricket Council also fails to recognise the breakaway cricket league.
