Kevin Pietersen takes over from Paul Collingwood as captain
South African-born cricketer Kevin Pietersen is taking over from Paul Collingwood as captain for England in the last match of their one-day series against New Zealand on Saturday.
Collingwood has been penalised with a four-match suspension due to a slow over-rate during the game on Thursday.
Pietersen, who celebrates his 28th birthday on Friday, has already been England's unofficial vice-captain for one-day cricket matches since June 2007.
England are trailing 2-1 behind in the five-match series, even though they took a 1-0 series lead after Pietersen claimed a century at Chester-le-Street.
Kevin Pietersen qualified to play for England in 2004, and straight away showed how good he was in a one-day series in South Africa.
Then the summer after that, following his changeover from Nottinghamshire to Hampshire, he was the main run-scorer in the famous 2-1 Ashes series victory.
