Kent take no action against captain Rob Key for ball-tampering
Kent County Cricket will not be taking any action against team captain Rob Key after he admitted ball-tampering during a pre-season friendly match against Nottingham.
Rob Key had been photographed at Canterbury using sandpaper on the ball, however, Kent described the game as "formalised practice" and ruled out any disciplinary measures against him.
The match between Kent and Nottingham did not come under the jurisdiction of the England and Wales Cricket Board and the latter side decided not to make a complaint about Rob Key's action.
Rob Key commented: "Maybe I've been a bit naive but it didn't really occur to me that this might develop into a scandal."
Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire's Director of Cricket, almost came to Rob Key's defence on the matter and said: "If I had noticed it, I would have asked him what was going on. But I know Rob would not dream of doing it in a proper match and it was only a practice game."
