Injured pace bowler Kyle Mills to miss World Cup
There is no chance now that New Zealand pace bowler Kyle Mills will be playing in the World Cup due to a serious knee injury that has been troubling him for the last year.
Kyle Mills, 27, is having an operation next week to fix up a patella tendon and could be away from the action for over six months.
"I'm devastated obviously, but the guys go to the West Indies with my full support and I hope and believe they will do very well," Kyle Mills said.
When he is not hampered by injury, Kyle Mills is normally a first-choice new ball bowler for New Zealand and took 10 wickets, which helped the team reach the semi-finals of last year's ICC Champions Trophy in India.
"It's a real blow to our campaign as he is a genuine swing bowler," coach John Bracewell commented and added: "It's been a hard decision for him but he says he's only going to let the team down if he tries to struggle through the World Cup and can only play every so often."
