Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly injures back

sourav Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly caused concern for his team before Friday's second Test at Trent Bridge because he was absent from an indoor training session due to a back injury.

Sourav Ganguly, 25, had already had back problems during the first Test at Lord's and was unable to take part in India's practise at Loughborough University.

However, India spokesman Rufus Rockey said Sourav Ganguly's problem wasn't as bad as it might appear and said: "There's nothing to worry about. It's slight, minor, lower back stiffness."

Sourav Ganguly said: "I would love to play but it is not in my hands whether I play or not. We will see how it goes in the next two days."

Left-handed player Yuvraj Singh is speculated to be the replacement if Sourav Ganguly was ruled unfit to play.

After leaving the Indian team in early 2006, Sourav Ganguly had been recalled to the Indian Test side in December, and had made a successful comeback in the 2006 - 2007 tour of South Africa.
