Indian cricket board tells players to behave
In the wake of the trouble that erupted involving Harbhajan Singh, the Indian cricket board has told members of the team that they need to behave themselves.
Harbhajan Singh was charged, earlier this week, with racially abusing Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds, however, the offence was downgraded to abusive language by the International Cricket Council.
Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah is reported to have explained: "We have told the players not to get into altercations."
Harbhajan Singh had been found guilty of calling Andrew Symonds a "monkey" during the second Test in Sydney earlier this month, but at the appeal hearing on Tuesday, it was decided that there was insufficient evidence to convict Harbhajan Singh of racial abuse. Because of this the charge was altered to that of using abusive language.
Harbhajan Singh pleaded guilty and, in so doing, avoided a three-match ban although he was nevertheless fined half his match fee.
