India player Sree Santh fined for barging Michael Vaughan
India cricketer Sree Santh has been fined 50% of his match fee for barging into England captain Michael Vaughan in the second Test at Trent Bridge.
Sree Santh admitted his guilt and that he had breached the ICC Code of Conduct after a Level 2 charge was brought against him by officials.
Referee Ranjan Madugalle said: "Cricket is a non-contact sport and any deviation from that is unacceptable.
"I have no problem with players being combative but there is a line they cannot cross and Santh crossed it."
Ranjan Madugalle also said: "I am pleased that Santh accepted he was in the wrong by pleading guilty and that he apologised for his actions and I hope he learns from his mistake."
The match has been spoiled by other unpleasant incidents since the start of the Test began on Friday, and Sree Santh was also accused of running through the crease and bowling a beamer at Kevin Pietersen.
India's Zaheer Khan even accused England cricketers of insulting behaviour by dropping jelly beans on the wicket when he was batting.
