India cricket captain Rahul Dravid injured
India cricket captain Rahul Dravid suffered an injury to his face on Saturday whilst batting.
A ball from seamer RP Singh hit Rahul Dravid and it struck him between the helmet visor and grille causing bruising to his nose and face. Rahul Dravid has been advised to completely rest for 24 hours.
This injury arrives very badly timed as the team make preparations for their tour of Bangladesh and also after batsman Sachin Tendulkar sprained his ankle whilst training.
India are playing three one-day internationals against Bangladesh, which begin in Dhaka on Thursday, to be followed by a two-Test series.
India haven't announced a vice-captain for the tour and Sachin Tendulkar and former captain Sourav Ganguly are also being rested and unable to play.
A cricket board spokesman explained Rahul Dravid's condition as follows: "His condition has been diagnosed as nose trauma.
"He was hit on the grille and the ball grazed his nose. There was no cut, just bruises. It is not serious."
But if Rahul Dravid is rulled out then Virender Sehwag could deputise.
