Greg Chappell cricket coach for India resigns
Veteran cricketer and ex-captain of Australia's national team Greg Chappell has announced his resignation as coach for India after their terrible World Cup performance in the West Indies when the team failed to qualify for the Super 8s and were defeated by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Greg Chappell, who was appointed as India coach in May 2005, said he is retiring from cricket for "family and personal reasons".
Greg Chappell also said: "I look forward to continuing my contact with India in the coming years and I wish Indian cricket much joy and success in the future,
"I am grateful to the players with whom I have worked for the challenges that they presented me with and which I tried to meet in a professional, methodical and interesting way in the interests of the team and the individual.
"I would like to make special mention of my support staff without whom I would not have survived the rigours of the past 22 months."
Greg Chappell's contract will expire in three weeks time.
