Former Australia cricket captain Mark Taylor leads search
Former Australia cricket captain Mark Taylor is going to lead the search for a new national team coach and he will chair a five-man panel who have been given the job of finding someone suitable to replace John Buchanan.
"The recommendation of a replacement coach will be one of the most important decisions Cricket Australia needs to make in the next 12 months," Mark Taylor said.
John Buchanan, 53, will be retiring at the end of next year's World Cup after eight years in charge and in that time he has led Australia to 24 Test series wins and a triumph in the 2003 World Cup final.
There are plenty of potential candidates for the panel to consider, including Tom Moody, Greg Chappell and Dav Whatmore, who are currently coaching the Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh teams, and the head of Australia's Centre of Excellence, Tim Nielsen.
