England cricketer Monty Panesar makes world top 10
England cricketer Monty Panesar has just progressed into the top 10 world cricket rankings for the first time, following his impressive performance in their triumph over West Indies.
Monty Panesar, 25, took 5-46 to help bring about England's seven-wicket victory and he ended the series as England's top man of the series with 23 wickets.
Monty Panesar's accuracy as a player was a very real threat to the opposition in the fourth and final Test at the Riverside.
Monty Panesar said proudly: "It's been an unbelievable series to get 23 wickets in the four Test matches and I feel very lucky with the way things have gone,
"I am very pleased with my performances."
There had been speculation in the press that Monty Panesar, who only made his Test debut last year, would be omitted from the team for the first Test to make way for an extra seamer, but he made all the talk look stupid when he took 6-129 in the first innings.
