England cricketer Ashley Giles needs hip operation
England spinner Ashley Giles will have a hip operation next week, but
he is still hoping to be fit enough for the tour of India.
Ashley Giles, who was forced to miss the third Test in Pakistan after
struggling with the injury in the second game, is set to fly home to
England later this week.
Ashley Giles said: "It's cutting it fine for India but by getting it done next week hopefully I'll be on that plane.
"The quicker it happens the quicker I can get fit. I'm looking forward to getting it sorted and getting fit."
And Ashley Giles added: "We managed to get through the summer but there
has been more pain and it looks like we'll have to get it done.
"I've got to go under the knife, fix the cartilage and remove this bone
spur as well. It could be three months recovery so I will have to get
it done now.
"It's a bit annoying. I was hoping to have a successful tour of
Pakistan. I'm disappointed but looking forward to being on that plane
to India."
