England cricketer Ashley Giles considers his future
England cricketer and Warwickshire spinner Ashley Giles has been pondering his future as he battles to recover from a third hip operation.
Ashley Giles, 34, has already ruled himself out of this season and he is worried that he may not recover well enough to be able to give the sport his best anymore.
Ashley Giles explained: "The underlying thing is that you never know how much long-term damage you are doing.
"I've never thought it is not worth it, but I have to start thinking about it."
Ashley Giles also fought back from a year away from cricket to play in the first two Tests of last winter's Ashes series, however, he was forced to go back home early from Australia after his wife became ill.
Ashley Giles then suffered an injury setback and had a third operation just before the start of the new cricket season.
Ashley Giles added: "It is great to keep going and saying to yourself, 'I will be fine', but the chances of recurrence are very high and I can't keep going through operations."
