England cricket captain Michael Vaughan confident of a comeback
England cricket captain Michael Vaughan is optimistic about being fit enough for his team's opening match at the Cricket World Cup, against New Zealand on 16 March. Michael Vaughan missed England's disappoibting Ashes tour with a knee injury but made a return for the opening match of the Commonwealth Bank series against Australia in Melbourne.
Manchester-born Michael Vaughan, 32, who has played just three of England's last 35 one-day internationals, has been receiving treatment for a hamstring injury he suffered playing against New Zealand in Hobart before making it worse in Brisbane and missing the rest of the series.
Commenting on his current situation, Michael Vaughan said: "It's progressing nicely. The two warm-up games against Bermuda and Australia are going to be crucial.
"The medical team is confident over the way it's gone in the past week."
Michael Vaughan had to miss almost the entire 2006 season due to injury, including the Test series against India and Pakistan, as well as the 2006/7 Ashes series in Australia but he is hopeful that he'll be able to return to the action.
"But I'll certainly need to get out there and have a bat, get some middle practice and try to get some form going into that first game against New Zealand," Michael Vaughan said.
