England's Andrew Flintoff won't play against South Africa
England cricket all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will not be included in the selection for the first Test against South Africa on 10 July.
It was decided that it was too early for Flintoff to be back in the action after his recovery from injury. An identical 12-man team to the one that was in the 2-0 series victory against New Zealand has been announced instead, with him left out.
However, Andrew Flintoff and 2005 Ashes star cricketer Simon Jones are part of a 30-man potential squad for the one-day Champions Trophy later on in September.
England selector Geoff Miller explained the selectors' decision: "We're all eager to see Flintoff back playing for England but there's nothing to be gained from rushing him back until he has proved he's ready to meet the demands of Test cricket."
Flintoff has not played a Test for 18 months and he appeared to have gotten over ankle problems he had had but then he went on to strain his side just before the first Test of the summer against New Zealand.
