Duncan Fletcher tells of a drunken Andrew Flintoff
Former England cricket coach Duncan Fletcher has told the Daily Mail newspaper of a training session during last winter's Ashes tour to Australia that had to be canceled because Andrew Flintoff was drunk. To make things worse, Andrew Flintoff was captain at the time.
Duncan Fletcher explained: "You just hope the players do not let you down. Sadly Flintoff did."
Duncan Fletcher also said: "Flintoff was in such a state he could not throw properly. He had to pass the ball to the bloke next to him to do so."
Apparently, Duncan Fletcher had strongly considered dropping Andrew Flintoff but changed his mind to avoid bad publicity.
Andrew Flintoff had badly disappointed Duncan Fletcher with his drinking at the time of the World Cup, and Andrew Flintoff was one of six England players who were fined after a drinking session following England's defeat by New Zealand in St Lucia.
Andrew Flintoff's agent Neil Fairbrother was unavailable for further comment.
