Delays continue for the Kensington Oval World Cup stadium
Construction work on Barbados' Kensington Oval stadium continues to get the site ready in time for the World Cup although delays are still causing a problem. Originally, all work was hoped to be completed by the end of December but now a new date has been given.
Venue director Don Lockerbie is reported to have told The Nation newspaper: "There is no need to be fearful but we all appreciate there is still plenty to do."
The December completion date had to be changed to the second week in February after it was discovered that parts of the roofs were still unfinished.
Don Lockerbie went on to explain: "We have been told that Kensington will be substantially complete in time for the 17 February event."
And Don Lockerbie added: "It's not just a matter of building a structure, but we have to ensure that all is in place to operate and all is fully functional.
"We will be working to have the roofs, the courtyard and all the decorative finishes done."
