Cricketer Kevin Pietersen could miss Test due to injury
England cricketer Kevin Pietersen may be forced to miss England's first Test against the West Indies at Lord's due to an injury he has suffered.
Kevin Pietersen, 26, had to pull out of Hampshire's Championship match with Lancashire after tearing a calf muscle whilst playing for his county against Ireland.
A very frustrated Kevin Pietersen said: "The muscle is torn and I'll have to see how it responds to treatment before I know if I'll be able to play."
And captain Michael Vaughan will most probably miss the Test starting on 17 May as well, having broken the middle finger of his right hand while he was batting for Yorkshire on 3 May.
Kevin Pietersen was one of the few cricketers who came back from the disappointing trip to Australia last winter with his reputation as a player still in good standing so this comes as a serious blow to his current career.
"What I do know is that I'm desperate not to miss it and will do everything I can to get fit," Kevin Pietersen is reported to have said.
