Cricketer Andrew Flintoff out of Sri Lankan series
England and Lancashire cricketer Andrew Flintoff has been ruled out of England's forthcoming one-day series in Sri Lanka due to his left ankle still causing him trouble.
England Cricket Board (ECB) decided on this after the team's elimination from the ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa, and it has been revealed that Hampshire player Chris Tremlett will replace Andrew Flintoff.
An ECB statement explained that Andrew Flintoff's ankle needed time "to settle and recover before the process of further strengthening and assessment is intensified".
Andrew Flintoff had received surgery for a third time in June and went on to make his international return in the recent home one-day series against India, and although he had further problems with the ankle joint, the selectors thought it was safe to take him to the World Twenty20.
England coach Peter Moores explained what will happen next to Andrew Flintoff: "Now he will go back to England for strengthening work and we will see where we go from there."
