Cricket coach Duncan Fletcher and batsman Brian Lara both to retire
Both cricket coach for England Duncan Fletcher and West Indies batsman Brian Lara are retiring from sport on Saturday when England plays against the West Indies in the final World Cup Super 8 match.
Brian Lara, who was nicknamed "The Prince of Port-of-Spain" or simply "The Prince," is a record-breaking West cricketer who has been called one of the greatest batsmen ever. While Duncan Fletcher's most famous and greatest achievement was in September 2005 when he became the first coach of the English team to win an Ashes series for 18 years when England beat Australia.
England cricket captain Michael Vaughan thinks it is going to be a memorable game and said: "England against West Indies in Barbados, with a full house, Fletcher's last game and Lara's last game, it should be a great spectacle," and he added: "We want to win the game to give the fans something to cheer about."
And Brian Lara wants to end his career well too, and said: "I am bidding farewell to international cricket as a player but we still have the World Cup to finish and a job to do."
