Cricket chairman of selectors David Graveney aims to stay
England cricket chairman of the board of selectors, David Graveney OBE, says he is staying on in spite of a disappointing winter's performance and poor results by the team as well as the departure of coach Duncan Fletcher.
England lost 5-0 in the Ashes series and had then failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals in the Caribbean and David Graveney did admit to feeling "in a state of limbo".
However, looking toward the future of the England cricket team, David Graveney said: "I'm not going to fall on my sword...the priority is to address the mistakes that have been made and to get us playing good cricket again."
David Graveney, 54, has been in charge of the selectors panel for the past decade, however, it has been voiced that the Schofield report looking at English cricket, and due to be published in May, may suggest his replacement with a new director of cricket.
David Graveney, however, responded to this saying: "I just know I still feel I can do a job for England. The selection system has come in for criticism and at times it hasn't worked well but other times it has worked very well."
