Bob Woolmer dies and the cricketing world pays tribute
Veteran all-rounder cricketer and Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer has died at the age of 58 and the world of cricket is in mourning.
Bob Woolmer had been taken to University Hospital in Kingston hospital after he was found unconscious in his hotel room on Sunday during the World Cup in the West Indies but it was later confirmed that he was dead.
The cause of death remains unknown at present but Pervez Mir, the Pakistan cricket team manager said that Bob Woolmer had suffered from an un-named medical condition.
Naseem Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, claimed that Bob Woolmer had complained about breathing difficulties before the team left for the World Cup, and revealed that he had been a diabetic.
Bob Woolmer's son was also reported as saying that his father may have died as a result of stress brought on by his work or from a heart attack.
Tributes have poured in for Bob Woolmer and ex-West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding said: "It's a sad day for the sport and the cricketing fraternity."
England captain Michael Vaughan also paid tribute saying: "We know how much impact he's had on the game. He will be greatly missed."
