Batsman Younis Khan turns down Pakistan captaincy
Batsman Younis Khan has turned down his chance to be Pakistan's cricket captain at the ICC Champions Trophy in India.
Younis Khan, 28, the team's vice-captain, was selected to replace Inzamam-ul-Haq, who is serving a four-match ban because of his part in the forfeited Oval Test.
Younis Khan should have had a full news conference with coach Bob Woolmer but instead he said one sentence and walked away.
Younis Khan said: "I don't want to be a dummy captain and the reason why I have refused will be revealed afterwards."
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) director of operations Saleem Altaf said Younis Khan had not given a good enough reason and criticised his action.
"We don't think this is the way to do things," he said. "If he had any problems he should have discussed it with us first," Saleem Altaf added.
