Batsman Sachin Tendulkar turns down India skipper role
Batsman Sachin Tendulkar has rejected the opportunity to be India's Test captain.
Sachin Tendulkar, 34, was captain twice from 1996-2000 but he resigned from the job after only four wins in 25 Tests.
Sachin Tendulkar was offered the chance to rake over from Rahul Dravid, who left in September, but he is reported to have said on the TV channel CNN-IBN: "I don't feel right about it at the moment."
India's cricket selectors will announce their choice on Thursday and are expected to pick Mahendra Dhoni, 26, who is captain of the one-day team.
Mahendra Dhoni had already guided India during their World Twenty20 victory in South Africa in September, and if chosen his first Test series as captain will be against Pakistan, which takes place after the ongoing one-day series between the teams ends.
However, Mahendra Dhoni, who plays as wicket-keeper or batsman, is thought by some to be too inexperienced for the role.
