Batsman Kevin Pietersen recovers from a virus
England cricketer Kevin Pietersen will play in Thursday's final Test against India at The Oval it has been reported.
Kevin Pietersen, 27, who plays as batsman, had been confined to his hotel room with a high temperature and had been prescribed antibiotics.
There were concerns that his illness would mean he might miss his first Test but it appears he is going to be recovered sufficiently in time to play and he was well enough to be training again on Wednesday.
Captain Michael Vaughan explained: "He's fine. He had a virus and it was a bit more of a concern on Wednesday but he seems to have pulled through pretty well,"
"He didn't take part in the more physical side of the fielding drills but he's had a long bat and says he's fine."
Michael Vaughan went on to say: "It was slightly worrying when I heard he'd got a virus but the doctor said straight away that as long as he got his tablets down him he'd be okay."
