Australian cricketer Chris Rogers signs for Derbyshire
Australian cricketer Chris Rogers has signed a deal with Derbyshire as back-up overseas player to Mahela Jayawardene.
Chris Rogers, 30, from Western Australia, has agreed to play again for Derbyshire - he was previously with the team in 2004 - but now he will fill in when Mahela Jayawardene is otherwise occupied.
Head of Derbyshire cricket John Morris said: "It is great news to have another player of the quality of Chris joining us."
And John Morris added: "Chris will start the season and will play as our overseas player until Mahela Jayawardene arrives towards the end of May - and he will fill in when Mahela has international commitments with Sri Lanka later in the summer," added Morris.
Chris Rogers, who has played for Australia A, also was with Northamptonshire and Leicestershire in the past.
Chris Rogers is the latest player in a recruitment drive, which has already brought in Mahela Jayawardene and new captain Rikki Clarke to the team.
