Australian cricket umpire Darrell Hair returns
Australian cricket umpire Darrell Hair, who was in the "ball-tampering" scandal, makes his comeback to Test cricket on Friday in Manchester at the second Test between England and New Zealand.
55-year-old Hair returns to the sport 21 months after accusing Inzamam-ul-Haq of ball-tampering at The Oval.
Darrell Hair had been on a "rehabilitation" course because of all the trouble the incident caused and says he has learnt to communicate with other people better. "I have picked up a few things - making sure what you say and what you want is understood by other people," he is reported to have said.
Hair will be alongside compatriot Simon Taufel at Old Trafford, and with West Indian Steve Bucknor at the third Test in Nottingham.
Inside Australian Cricket quoted Darrell Hair reflecting on his past mistakes as having said: "I've always been a little bit stand-offish in that I've always preferred to let them play the game themselves and only get involved when things go overboard. But maybe there's a case to be made for a little bit more work in that area."
